Japanese people always have vinyl umbrella like her.
I had also done with it while I was in Japan, but right now I feel it is so Japanese ( I haven't seen people having this umbrella in NY.)

日本にいた時には気づかなかったけど、日本人は雨が降るとみーんな傘をさす。(NYではちょっとやそっとの雨じゃほとんど傘を差してる人はいないんだけれど。)

they sell this umbrellas in Nordstrom rack for $17 even cuter then this one and ppl love them in Boston! I was there for couple of days it seemed that everybody loved them:)
